Ten years ago, Dave Robinson, the general manager of the company I worked for, invited me to join ISA. It made sense for me to say “yes” as I wanted to grow my network in the automation industry. Today, ten years later, I can say it was a career-advancing decision. I have made many contacts and friends, built self-character, and contributed to both the local automation community and at the international level.
When I became a member of ISA Edmonton Section I discovered how easy it was to access ISA standards. Throughout my experience volunteering on the ISA Edmonton Section Board and Executive, I’ve noticed that we could be doing a better job illustrating to our members how often ISA standards are required in their professional careers and how to access them. Therefore, this year, my mandate as ISA Edmonton Section President is to showcase ISA standards (the most widely referenced and used, those being further developed, and brand new standards) via our Technical Talks, Technical Tours, ISA INSIDER blog and however else we can!
Of course I’m also looking forward to the fun stuff too, like our annual Fall Classic Golf Tournament, student events, St. Paddy’s Day networking party & more…
