Join the ISA Edmonton Section IN-PERSON on Monday, November 28, for an in-depth technical talk on hydrogen and ATCO's early adoption of it. When it comes to this chemical element you'll... gain an understanding of why it's important to Alberta's Economy, find out what ATCO is up to in this space, and get a glimpse at the role automation is playing in Alberta's first Hydrogen blending project.
Technical Talk Overview
There’s an increasing demand to transition towards cleaner energy. In places like Alberta, the transition brings added challenges due to cold temperatures and insufficient renewable sources. Hydrogen for heating can meet our long-term needs when it comes to safety, reliability, and affordability. Blending hydrogen into natural gas reduces the greenhouse gas intensity of the natural gas stream, creating a lower carbon energy.
ATCO is proud to announce that a first-of-its-kind project in our province is underway to fuel 2,100 homes and businesses in Fort Saskatchewan with a 5% hydrogen/natural gas blend!
The presentation will provide an overview of: the environmental and economic drivers for why the transition to Hydrogen makes sense, ATCO’s Fort Saskatchewan Hydrogen Blending Project (including some unique automation equipment and processes included in the design), what will change for our customers, ATCO's future plans with hydrogen, and more.
Meet Our Speaker!
Patrick Bain is the Manager of Hydrogen Projects for ATCO’s Natural Gas division. With over 12 years’ experience, he has held progressively senior roles in engineering management, design, and project management for natural gas transmission pipelines. Patrick is currently responsible for leading a team of experts through the scoping, design and execution of key initiatives, including the Fort Saskatchewan Hydrogen Blending pilot for ATCO.
