Expert Panel Advice & Networking
Happening virtually for the first time ever... our annual ISA Edmonton Section Student Night will connect 60 lucky post secondary students with 40 automation professionals! Once again, the theme for this year’s event is Expert Panel Advice & Networking.
Students, here's your chance to hear career advice from a panel of automation industry experts (one from an end-user company, one from an EPC company and one from a vendor company), and to network with these experts plus 40 other automation industry professionals. There is NO OTHER local event that provides an opportunity like this!
Expert Panel Topics
Questions for our panelists will revolve around the following four topics: 1) Graduating! What's Next?, 2) How To Network, 3) The Interview, and 4) Economy.
After the panel discussion, time-permitting, students will have the opportunity to ask questions to our panelists (via our virtual event platform's chat function).

Networking - How It Works :)
The Networking feature is one of our favourite things about our virtual event platform. It’s personal, fun, and seamless. Those with a "Student" ticket type are paired with those with an "Automation Professional" ticket type for a 1-on-1 video "blind speed date" that can last a maximum of three minutes. Once in the Networking tab all you need to do is click the “Ready” button, Hopin will then search for someone of the “opposite” ticket type that's also clicked the "ready" button; the two are matched instantly and the speed date video chat begins. Both participants will see a 3-minute countdown timer on the top of their screen - when the time is up, the speed date automatically ends (you can also click “leave” at any time after 15 seconds). Interactions (aka: "Speed Dates") are NOT recorded. Once you have a speed date with someone you won’t be matched with that person again.
Schedule of Events (for Monday, January 25)
5:00pm - Login & familiarize yourself with the platform.
5:15pm - "Expert Panel Advice" panel presentation (will take place in the "Stage" tab).
5:45pm to 6:30pm - One on one networking (will take place in the "Networking" tab).
Location
This event takes place on Hopin (our virtual event platform). Instructions on how to access the event will be emailed to all registrants prior to the event.
Event Etiquette
Dress is business casual. This is an opportunity to learn and network, please do not ask for a job.
Registration
To register for this event, please click the green button below and select the ticket option that pertains to you. The fee for students is $10; a nominal amount that will help our not for profit organization cover some of the costs involved with putting on a professional virtual event of this magnitude. There is no cost to Automation Professionals; we greatly appreciate you donating your valuable time and experience-based insight.
