Student Competition

Our inaugural ISA Edmonton Section Student Competition kicks off Friday, October 16, 2015 at NAIT. We welcome students from U of A, NAIT, SAIT & U of C.
Students - here's your chance to socialize with other students, practice your technical skills and to be mentored by industry professionals. Enter the competition by October 13, 2015!
How It Works
This year we are accepting 8 NAIT students, 4 U of A students, 8 SAIT students and 4 U of C students. Students will be divided into 8 teams of 3. Competitors will be provided with training on the Friday and then teams will be presented with technical challenges that they need to solve on Saturday.
We've got you covered!
Out of town students will be housed for three evenings at the Comfort Inn. Breakfast, lunch and dinner wil be provided for all participants and representatives. City of Edmonton bus passes will also be provided as needed.

Schedule Of Events
Friday, October 16, 2015
- 10am to 12pm - Mixer, Meet Your Competitors! (Go to the main entrance of the Spartan Centre. Our volunteers will meet you there and show you where to go.)
- 1pm to 4pm - Competition Informational Session & Technical Training
- 4pm to 6pm - U of A Tour (Meeting Location TBA, Transportation Available)
- 7pm - Dinner at Devaney's Irish Pub
Saturday, October 17, 2015
- 8am to 4pm - Student Competition
- 6pm to 8pm - Awards Ceremony at The Nest
Challenges Include
- Interpretation and use of electronic, electrical, pneumatic and mechanical schematics.
- Installing and commissioning electrical, pneumatic and mechanical systems.
- Configuring, testing and modifying a sequential mechanism controlled by a mechanical system.
- Programming a PLC.
